Data Centers
& Network Operations Centers

Data and call centers are typically the highest risk and the most expensive real estate or floor space to build. This infrastructure is mission-critical and controls companies' most valuable assets…intellectual data. Axis engineers have developed and deployed tier 1-4 rated data centers for organizations of many sizes, including Fortune 500 companies. They have also developed effective strategies for addressing issues of business site location; your company’s vulnerability to natural disasters, terrorism or disgruntled employees; and associated loss of productivity, data and revenue.

How we look at siting, securing and maintaining a data center - The modern data center holds information - the fluid, quickly changing, indispensable and valuable currency of the modern business world.  However, when we are asked to design a data center, we must consider and account for many hard physical realities, including: security, resistance to destruction, temperature control and energy expenditure.  Now, more than ever, security and location drive data center development strategies. Therefore, as a company’s operations, fortunes and future can be wiped out in an instant, continuity planning and redundant data centers are central to our data center methodology.  Our comprehensive look at an organization’s use, storage, retrieval and control of information includes such areas as:

Location - This set of considerations includes issues such as: geographic setting and separation, local weather and incidence of natural disasters, power grid capabilities, energy costs, even conspicuousness of facilities.

• Power, energy use and climate control, including airflow - We look at applicable power grids and supply channels, capacity as well as liability to interruption;  a data center’s cooling needs, including required redundancy in such areas as power supplies or power grids, which need ten times that of comparable general or office space; and floors that must handle weight-loads of thousands of pounds per square foot.

• Security - In planning a corporate data center, Axis addresses physical violation as well as “soft” issues like access control or authority, internal security systems, and electronic attacks from outside.

Data reconstruction - The ability to do this, if necessary, is impacted by the design of redundant systems and how quickly they can be brought on-line in a secure, seamless, and reliable manner.

Axis works to understand the hard data needs of a client, its business model, organizational culture and philosophy, as well as how far along it is in its understanding of modern data center design and data management.  Our goal is always to “buy” the best, meaning the right level, data solution for a company or organization in the most economical fashion.  For example, we are often able to suggest siting in less expensive, yet more secure, locations or provide new generation technologies, which create long-term economies.  This approach allows clients to embrace their comprehensive information technology “wish-list” or goals more quickly, thus allowing them to better compete in their industry or service sectors.
