A mature, yet progressive city “gets it.”
Communities compete just like businesses to capture a loyal customer, or in this case, residents.  The efficiency of local governments and school systems, the performance and reliability of public safety and emergency response, and the appeal of communal life are all dependant, as never before, on state-of-the-art data management, information retrieval and communications. This includes such items as:  better interface between police, fire and EMS services; telephone systems that work rather than irk; public libraries with the latest multimedia and online capabilities...the most livable cities "get it."

A recent example is Axis Technology’s assignment with the City of Warren, Michigan - one of metro Detroit’s largest suburbs in terms of population and real estate to be “brought together.”  The City made modern data management and communications integral to the construction of its new Library and new City Hall, now linked to nearly 20 other facilities and buildings.  Technologies employed include: extensive internet services, card access systems, imaging software, audio-visual broadcast, Cisco telephony and switching, a Lenel-based security system, voice and data infrastructure, kiosk systems and a data center.
